an autumn workshop
Embrace the Autumn with a creative, social evening at Speight’s Ale House.
You will be guided to make a small dried wreath or cloud arrangement using grapevine and dried folliage and flowers, grown here in Greymouth, by Phoebe.
Materials, delicious platters and tutoring provided.

Arranging the Flowers.
Learn tips for arranging flowers, foliage and fruits in your favourite vase. With a focus on seasonality, creativity and the whimsy and characterful nature of locally grown ingredients, you will be introduced to tricks and design tips around colour, balance and proportion.
Experience the flowers out in the field with a walk through my growing space and a chance to bring any questions you have around growing and picking for the vase.
You will leave with confidence in your arranging abilities, a broadened awareness of what you can grow, gather and forage for the vase, and your own beautiful floral arrangement.

Festive Wreath Making.
This is a great workplace social event to get the festive spirit flowing or a fun anytime class for a bunch of friends.
Learn to make a beautifully textural, natural, everlasting wreath. You will have a range of foliage, dried florals and grapevine wreath bases (grown here in Paroa) to use. Soak up tips and tricks and enjoy the creative process, taking home a classic, seasonal work of art for your wall.

Make a Flower Crown.
A fun, creative idea for a Hen’s party, children’s birthday party (inquire for children’s party package) or a perfectly random Sunday!
Depending on the season, we will be able to use dried or fresh flowers to make the flower crowns. Crowns can be anywhere on the scale between ‘whimsical garden fairy’ and bold and colourful ‘Mexican Señorita’.
Crowns are finished with an adjustable length of ribbon and can be dried and hung as a sculptural piece of art on your kids’ bedroom wall (as mine have done!).

Paint and Sip.
A classic, social, entertaining session of painting and ‘hydrating’.
Learn some tips about drawing and painting the flowers. Leave feeling like a real artist, finished artwork in hand to hang up in pride of place at home.
A (less messy!) equally lovely iteration of this class is ‘Pastels and Prosecco’. Draw the flowers in pastels and sip on bubbles.
And another fun twist is the (also paint free) ‘Drink and Draw’ where you will take home tips and tricks as well as a wee sketch pad and drawing pencil to carry on your new hobby in your own time!

As an experienced art teacher, workshops are my happy place. Team them with a wine and some snacks and we are winning!

My goal is always to create an experience for you that is relaxed and achievable. Even if you claim to be unable to draw a stick figure- I’ve got you!
